Sidebar [Milton]
To add widgets to the sidebar, simply:
- Go to Appearance > Widgets from the WordPress menu
- Drag the widget that you want from the Available Widgets section to the Primary Sidebar widget area
- Configure the widget however you wish and click Save.
To setup the sidebar widgets in a similar way to the Milton theme demo website, the following widgets were used, with the following settings.
About Me (Genesis - User Profile widget)
If you'd like the widget set up to match the demo theme style, the following image shows the settings that are being used on the demo website.
<span class="no-wrap"> ... </span>
The Gravatar image that is displayed, is the image that is associated with the email address of that user on the (free to use) Gravatar.com website.
Subscribe (Genesis - eNews Extended widget)
In order to work correctly this widget does require some configuration to work with your particular provider (e.g. MailChimp) please see our general Genesis eNews Extended plugin setup instruction on our Tutorials page.
Search (Search widget)
No special configuration is needed for this widget.
Featured (Genesis - Featured Posts widget)
In the Milton theme demo website, we are using this Genesis - Featured Posts widget as an example of how you can pull posts from a particular category and show it on the sidebar outside the normal 'flow' of the rest of your posts.
The following image shows the settings used if you want to match the style of the Milton theme demo website.
Sponsored By (Text widget)
This is simply a Text widget with some basic HTML in it. You are free, of course, to use whatever code you want including ad scripts from Google AdWords etc. The following is the basic code used in the Milton theme demo website.
Categories (Categories widget)
No special configuration is needed for this widget. By default it will list all categories with at least one published post.
